The brief is the third in a series of five briefs that investigate different aspects of the jobs and economic recovery process from the COVID 19 pandemic Nepal. It uses data from the two rounds of the World Bank’s SAR COVID-19 Phone Monitoring Surveys. The second survey was implemented about 18 months after the first pandemic-induced economic lockdowns in region, to assess the economic recovery in the medium term. The first two briefs highlighted the incomplete and unequal recovery in jobs; and the volatile nature of the job recovery process. The next two briefs will investigate: (i) the role of domestic labor mobility in the recovery, and (ii) downstream impacts of these shocks on economic and noneconomic welfare.
