The world has made great strides in improving sanitation conditions in recent decades. However, despite these achievements, there are still several obstacles to achieving the sanitation-related Sustainable Development Goals.
This case study demonstrates how cost-benefit analysis can be used to assess the economic and social viability of sanitation improvement projects, using the example of a city-wide fecal sludge management project implemented in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
