The PIDS Economic Policy Monitor 2023–2024 delves into the critical role of the middle class in driving economic growth, fostering social mobility, and ensuring political stability in the Philippines. It explores how emerging global megatrends—such as digitalization, green jobs, and innovation—present opportunities for expanding the middle class, while also addressing persistent challenges like inequality, skills mismatches, and infrastructure gaps. The analysis underscores the need for a whole-of-society approach to enact reforms, enhance competitiveness, and ensure inclusive progress toward the country’s long-term vision of a predominantly middle-class society by 2040.
