The purposes of this study are a) to evaluate Brazil's oil potential and its business environments; and b) to propose Korea's participation strategies for Brazil's oil sector. The research is divided to six parts. In chapter 2, followed by introduction, analyses Brazil's oil reserves and recent discoveries in the promising presalt oil province. In chapter 3, change in Brazilian energy policy including establishment of a new state oil company is investigated. In chapter 4, Brazil's business environments in oil sector are analysed. In chapter 5, Korea's rival countries' strategies in entering Brazil's petroleum industry are analyzed. China, Japan, EU, and the United States have been chosen as comparative countries and each country's strategies and current status are analysed to derive policy implications for Korea. Finally, in the concluding chapter, Korea's various strategies for active participation in the Brazilian oil industry are proposed.
