[언어] 학문어로서 터키어의 자격여부 공론화 현황 -외국어 교육 과열현상을 중심으로-

Whether Turkish language deserves scientific qualities for engaging philosophy and science has always been controversy among Turkish scholars for a long time. This argument is clearly divided into two perspectives. One claims that newborn Turkish is not suitable for global knowledge of philosophy, literature and science. The other asserts that Turkish provides abundant phrases, expressions and words through its historical development. The background of the argument is based on the phenomenon of English fever in Turkish society. The fever in foreign language education resulted in less profound awareness and knowledge in Turkish, thus a trend to make light of Turkish. This paper aims to study the phenomenon of foreign language fever in Turkey and argument on the ability of Turkish as a scientific language.
