[경제] Productivity in Argentina Part B : Barriers to Productivity - New Evidence

In Part A of this paper, authors reviewed the empirical evidence investigating the factors that affect total factor productivity and identified the main mechanisms by which each drives productivity. In this second part, authors first review the main stylized facts of productivity in Latin America and Argentina. Second, we review the main barriers to productivity in Argentina. Authors first identify the macroeconomic necessary conditions for any productivity agenda to have significant impact, and then we identify barriers at the micro level along the pillars identified in Part A. Authors then use new firm-level data to estimate total factor productivity at the firm level and explore the differences in TFP distributions between firms with facing different degrees of constraints. Finally, authors present policy directions along each of the factors suggesting 8 pillars.
