[경제] Liberalizing Services Trade in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership: Status and Ways Forward

Improving market access, bringing down restrictions while promoting regulatory transparency across all economies and modes of supply is critical to pursue the region’s recent services trade expansion. Using a novel methodology to quantify services liberalization in the RCEP, this brief examines the depth of members’ commitments, revealing disparities that may cause the potential gains to be unevenly distributed. The brief also discusses how liberalization of cross-border services (Mode 1) can be an opportunity to ride the digital transformation wave provided that regulatory reforms and investments in infrastructure and human capital are undertaken.
