[경제] Asia-Pacific Travel and Duty-Free Sectors Set for Rebound Over Near-Term

The past two years of the pandemic have hit the air travel and duty‑free industries hard. In early 2022, there was a significant uptick, but inflation and the war in Ukraine are set to push back the global recovery into 2023 or later. In addition, China’s only recently rethought Covid-zero strategy has meant that the world’s largest duty‑free spenders have not been travelling, hitting the Asia‑Pacific region the hardest. A report by ACI World predicted that in 2022, the region would recover to just 57% of 2019 travel volumes, whereas everywhere else would be much stronger, with North America leading the pack at 90%. Indeed, a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) suggests Asia‑Pacific travel volumes won’t recover until 2025.
