The technical assistance (TA) aimed to help the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) member countries (CMCs) implement the international food safety standards along the agricultural value chain systems. The TA addressed the need for capacity development and institutional investments—development of capacity, institutionalization of regulations, upgrades of infrastructure facilities, accreditation of laboratories, coordination between government ministries, and procedures and incentive structures to develop the private sector.
