[경제] Lao People’s Democratic Republic: Greater Mekong Subregion East–West Economic Corridor Towns Development Project

The project aimed to transform three towns— Kaysone Phomvihane, Phine, and Dansavanh—into economic hubs by improving urban environmental infrastructure and strengthening the institutional capacity of provincial and local authorities. It was to finance seven priority subprojects in the three towns that were selected because of their economic potential, infrastructure constraints, and commitments. Subprojects included improvements in wastewater treatment, solid waste management, roads and drainage, and river embankment protection. Improved environmental infrastructure would help reduce their carbon footprints and increase climate resilience. The project also aimed to strengthen institutional capacity for urban development and update the strategic local economic development plans (SLEDPs), incorporating gender specific measures.
