The multitranche finance facility (MFF) aimed to improve about 12,000 km of rural roads in the states of Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, with at least 2,200 habitations. It also aimed to strengthen the capacity of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMSGY) implementing agencies and support the operation and maintenance of PMGSY roads. Project 1 was to improve at least 3,145.67 km and upgrade at least 3,108.59 of rural roads, strengthen capacity of at least 2,000 PMGSY engineers, and establish and operate road maintenance program in each rural road network management units (RRNMU). The expected outcome was improved rural connectivity in the states covered by the project.
