[외교/안보] Food Sovereignty and Collective Empowerment: The Indigenous Peasantry in Argentina

아르헨티나 국외연구자료 연구보고서 - Collective Empowerment in Latin America: Indigenous Peasant Movements and Political Transformation 발간일 : 2024-05-01 등록일 : 2024-05-09 원문링크

The double paradox that an Indigenous agrarian movement has been able to advance a food sovereignty program in Argentina is examined in Chapter 7. First, Argentina was one of the Latin American countries that had most fervently adopted neoliberalism, the agribusiness model and agro-export of soymeal and soybeans. Second, small and landless farmers have been able to advance their political-cultural formation by going beyond bread-and-butter struggles and reclaiming an Indigenous identity. The latter is a paradox for Latin America’s country that pitches itself as having the most European ethnic background. Thus, the collective empowerment of Indigenous peoples has challenged the agribusiness model of export-dependent agriculture.
