The Agriculture and Environment Statistics Division of the Department of Census and Statistics is responsible for the collection, compilation and dissemination of agricultural related information of the country. This division collects data through economic census including agricultural activities, sample surveys and administrative records. The publication “Paddy Statistics” provides information on paddy during the 2014/2015 Maha season.
The field work of the survey covered the whole country. A sample of 6000 paddy parcels has been selected for the 2014/2015 Maha season representation of all paddy parcels in Sri Lanka.
The publication was prepared by the staff of the Agriculture and Environment Statistics Division of the Department of Census and Statistics under the guidance of Director, Mr. P. M. P. Anura Kumara and Deputy Director, Mr. K. P. K. Disanayake. Crop cutting survey was done by Statistical Officers and Statistical Assistants of the Department of Census and Statistics, attached to the Divisional Secretariats and other Officers attached to the Department of Agriculture and Agrarian Service Department.
