The study Titled Religious Leader behind U.S. War in Afghanistan, focuses on lack of U.S. support to Islamic education in Afghanistan especially after 9/11 and its implication on security and development. The key point of the study is to analyze the implication of lack of U.S. support to Islamic education in Afghanistan after 2001 and how did that, contributes to Taliban-influenced security destabilization and challenged development process in Afghanistan.
As for as the religious leaders had played an important role during the temporary socio-political transition history of Afghanistan; therefor, it’s important to know about implication of their economic and educational support and how that could contribute to bringing security and prepare situation for development in Afghanistan, or, how lack of support to religious leaders could contribute to destabilizing of security and challenge development process in Afghanistan.
To support the argument of the study, the author had used qualitative research methodology with supporting evidence from primary and secondary sources such as newspapers, academic journals and article, books, and other electronic documents from different professional websites.
The study finds out that the U.S. educational and economic support or lack of support to religious leaders belongs to its interest in Afghanistan and the region. During 1980s the U.S. economic and extremist educational support to religious leaders supported Jihad against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. After the establishment of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the nuclear program of Iran, the raise of India and Russia, the nuclear and terrorism issues of Pakistan and the attack of 9/11, lead the U.S. to invade Afghanistan, hereafter, by not supporting religious leaders educationally and economically in Afghanistan, resulted to establish a strong armed opposition against democratic government of Afghanistan to use them as a second option if the Afghan government did not accept their orders, and by not putting affective pressure on Pakistan government to destroy terrorist network in their country, resulted to strength terrorist activities and destabilize the region for further social, political and economic development and that helped the U.S. to keep its unipolar position in international affairs.
The most significant implication of lack of U.S. economic and educational support to religious leaders after 2001, contributed to insecurity in Afghanistan and that created barriers to socio-political and economic development of Afghanistan.
