The A2F Project was approved by the World Bank’s Board on November 26, 2013 with a commitment amount of SDR32.6 million (US$50 million equivalent) and the project became effective on April 17, 2014. The project was restructured for the first time in December 2018 to (i) extend the project closing date from December 31, 2018 to June 30,2021; and (ii) reallocate proceeds to component 1 to scale up the targeting the ultra-poor program to reach more beneficiaries and support digital finance for microfinance (micro and small entrepreneurs). In April 2021, a restructuring was processed for several projects in the Afghanistan portfolio, including the A2F project, through an omnibusamendment to the projects’ financing agreement, to extend the audit submission deadline to nine (9) months after the closure of each fiscal year. Lastly, a project restructuring was undertaken on June 13, 2021 to (i) cancel SDR 0.9 million (US$1.3 million equivalent) from the project undisbursed balance to account for activities that would not be completed before the project closing date; and (ii) reallocate SDR 0.7 million from component 1 to component 2 to reflect the COVID-19 response under the project.
