[정책] Early Learning and General Education in the Maldives : Performance, Challenges, and Policy Options

The Maldives has recognized the vital importance of early childhood education (ECE) for human capital development. Participation in primary education is near universal, and at the lower secondary level educational attainment is also high. The success of the Maldives in achieving universal primary and lower secondary education is the result of clear government commitment and sustained policy action. The Government of Maldives (GoM) acknowledges that the key access related challenges facing the country are to improve participation for identified vulnerable groups that is, girls, children with special education needs and students at risk and especially participation in higher secondary education. Chapter one is access to and participation in foundational and general education in the Maldives. Chapter two presents education quality in the Maldives. Chapter three gives the education sector’s response to Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Maldives and other small island states.
