During the last four decades, Afghanistan has suffered a series of devastating events, including ongoing armed conflict, social injustice, domestic violence, unprecedented poverty, and crippled health system. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the circumstances that adolescents live with greatly influence their mental health and development; the more the negative experiences, the higher the risk of mental illnesses. In fact, research has shown that ongoing war negatively impacts on the mental health, and resilience of people, especially youth, in conflict zone; which in turn affects long-term adult functioning, and results in behavioral problems and chronic non-communicable diseases.
