Financing needs in tackling the climate change-related challenges in Bangladesh is huge. For instance, the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) will require USD 230 billion during 2023 to 2050 time period. Besides, developing climate resilience capacity will require seven times the current spending amount at a rate of USD 8.5 billion per year, with USD 6.0 billion per year from external sources, according to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

The pivotal role of the Climate Budget in financing these challenges cannot be overstated. Therefore, a comprehensive review of the Climate Budget is imperative. It is important to recognise the significance of Green Public Finance Management in optimising the allocation of public expenditure for climate and environmental objectives. Besides, a set of recommendations are also required for Green Public Finance management.

In this context, a dialogue titled ‘Review of Climate Budget and Recommendations for Climate Public Finance Management in Bangladesh,’ was organised by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). This dialogue brief encapsulates insights and recommendations gleaned from the aforementioned event, featuring discussions by various speakers.
