It is remarkable that some foreign countries have reproduced the Korean pop culture these days. In this regard, central to this article is that the indigenized Korean wave is even being distributed by local to local in Southeast Asia. For example, Thailand mediates not only Korean wave but so-called ‘Thai version’ Korean wave for Laos. A closer look at Thai-Lao cultural formation gives characteristic aspects of Laos’ Korean wave: First, in consuming Korean pop culture, Laos has relied on Thai’s TV broadcast. Secondly, Laotians seem to prefer the ‘Thai version Korean wave’ than the original. In addition, there is Korean wave mainly in terms of Korean products consumption. Findings support the idea that the Korean wave is rather than a fixed substance, more of a cultural flow which could be dynamically transformed, hybridize, and indigenized.
