The academic library for their supporting roles in teaching , research and dissemination of culture, are a key node for information beyond their place in the organizational structure of the university or research center to which they belong , have a wide range , which significantly impacts related to the training of students and the development of research and dissemination of cultural activities. This paper provides some methodological tools related to information management that tackle the study of information users of academic library of the Interdisciplinary Center of Marine Sciences , under the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico , from a strategic planning approach business , which is to represent an information management system to guide the librarian in making decisions about the needs of information users . The method used in the study of users and their needs , was the comprehensive method for the determination and satisfaction dynamics of the training and information needs ( Amiga ) and early planning of IT / IS strategic planning integrated business from the leading ideas related to the organization , with users of information analysis, services , distribution channels , suppliers, the value chain of information systems and many more that will broaden the knowledge of the information needs of the users and in turn be the facilitator in the productive use of information. That is, the library as a system of fundamental supporting information, which allows the center to achieve its mission and objectives , so librarians and information professionals consider as a priority strategic planning to better understand their users and find address their information requirements.
