[지역] 아르헨티나 식량안보와 식량주권 위기: GM 대두생산 사례 연구

This thesis explains an emerging conflict between food security and food sovereignty with the increasing of GM soybean product in Argentine agricultural sector. Since the late of 1990s, Argentine government has allowed the production of GM soybean and many private companies, included the major grain companies such as Cargil and Monsanto joined this production process and huge investment and dominated the market. this result is not only about government strategy to escape from debt and economic crisis in the late of 1990s and the early of 2000, but it is also about another strategy of establishment of food security with neoliberal economic reform. However, the result is not good for Argentine society and environment. This process has brought a lots of problem and pay a lots of social costs, such as devastated forest and land, change of traditional crops, rising unemployment. In addition, the increasing GM soybean has resulted the mono-cultural and dominated phenomena in agricultural sector and has a bad influence on small-income farmers, raised a poverty rate in the rural community. Even though Argentine government should consider this kind of bad phenomena and results and make a solution to resolve this conflicts between food security and food sovereignty via reform of agricultural policy, but still they did not recognized this seriousness.
