After the independence war, Turkey went through some radicalpolitical and legal amendments. Despite the worst picture in economy,Turkey obtained significant successes as a result of the exuberance ofthe new Republic. However, the crisis which broke out first in the USAand then spread to the other capitalistic countries and which wasconsidered as the first major global crisis shook and had its deepreverberations in Turkey. The first impact was the devaluation of theTurkish currency.
