This document reports on the implementation of trust fund under the Europe 2020 programmatic single-donor trust fund. The trust fund was countersigned on October 3, 2017. Implementation of the trust fund ended on December 16, 2020. Under the trust fund, the Bank provided technical assistance to assist implementation of the mayors for economic growth (M4EG) initiative. The M4EG initiative is a four-year program of the European Commission DG NEAR to support local authorities in the six countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine) to become active facilitators for economic growth and job creation. The initiative aimed to raise the profile of local economic development initiatives in local authorities and to raise the capacity of local authorities to implement such initiatives. The World Bank’s role was to provide technical assistance to the initiative. The day-to-day running of the initiative was conducted by the M4EG Secretariat (a consulting consortium contracted by the European Commission).
