Strong private consumption and further tourism recovery, especially after the reopening of China’s border, will continue to support economic growth, rising household incomes, and a decline in the poverty headcount rate to 10.6 percent in 2023. However, Thailand’s economic recovery continued to lag that of ASEAN peers; falling goods exports have clouded the outlook. The slowing external environment, domestic price pressures, and elevated household debt pose downside risks. Political uncertainty remains regarding the timeline of general elections and government formation.
