Türkiye needs accessible and affordable long-term finance for a resilient recovery from COVID-19, moving away from the credit-fueled growth model and toward a more sustainable growth path. Turkey achieved relatively strong economic growth despite the negative impact of COVID-19. However, growth has been largely fueled by strong credit expansion, which resulted in elevated macro-financial vulnerabilities. Long-term finance—frequently defined as all funding for a time frame exceeding one year—contributes to faster growth, greater welfare, shared prosperity, and enduring stability.
