This financial year (FY23) has been a year of recovery for Malaysia. The economyrecorded strong growth in 2022, characterized by improved employment andresumption of strong domestic consumption. The annual growth rate of 8.7%was the fastest in the region. But the pandemic, as elsewhere, left many behindas poor and vulnerable groups, including smaller firms, continued to struggle toregain their footing. They were hard hit by the increases in food and energy prices,triggered by geopolitical developments.
