The research for "Laos International Cooperation in Greater Mekong Subregion for food security" has two main objectives: firstly, research the status Laos quo of the international cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion; secondly, research identifying the orientation of Laos international cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The research methodology applied in the research is qualitative research methodology which includes the collection and analysis of topic-related documents and the implementation of interviews with 8 officials and experts working in related agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Resources and Environment in Laos. The research results show that: International Cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion has grown steadily in all fields which have brought enormous benefits to member countries and therefore become the solid foundation for long-term cooperations among GMS countries. While participating in international cooperation activities in the Greater Mekong Subregion, Laos has set out main objectives to attract investments, to promote goods transaction, to improve the infrastructure and to develop the economy and society with an aim to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty for their people. Laos has implemented prioritized and suitable policies to promote goods transaction, to create favorable conditions for their people to access and use products of each country as well as of others, to contribute effectively to the secure of food security in Laos. Despite Laos has gained positive achievements in cooperating to implement GMS international cooperation programs and plans, there are still difficulties and challenges influencing the economy and society development in general and the food security of each country in particular, such as: climate change, the fluctuation of the food market, the rapid urbanization trend. Therefore, in order to achieve long-term objectives, Laos need to make more efforts and particular solutions such as creating and promoting favorable conditions for the development of mutual benefits of the country as well as of GMS member countries to transform the GMS into a fast growing and prosperous region.
