This study aims to find the potential sectors which are needed to strengthen economic cooperation between Korea and Myanmar by analysis of GCI(Global Competitiveness Index) gap of WEF(World Economic Forum). Myanmar, also known as Burma, was long considered a pariah state, isolated from the rest of the world with an appalling human rights record. The economy is one of the least developed in the world, and is suffering the effects of decades of stagnation, mismanagement, and isolation. Key industries have long been controlled by military, and corruption is rife. The military has also been accused of large-scale trafficking in heroin, of which Burma is a major exporterThe findings of the research suggest that the sectors which are needed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Korea and Myanmar are as follows. The first sector is infrastructure. Extensive and efficient infrastructure is critical for ensuring the effective functioning of the economy, as it is an important factor in determining the location of economic activity and the kinds of activities or sectors that can develop within a country. The second one is higher education and training because the quality of higher education and training is crucial for economy that wants to move up the value chain beyond simple production processes and products. The third one is technological readiness. In a globalizing world, technology is increasingly essential for firms to compete and prosper.
