[환경] Distributional Impacts of Climate Change Mitigation in Indonesia - A Background Note for the CCDR in Indonesia

Alongside Indonesia’s development over the last decades, its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions rose sharply, making Indonesia the seventh biggest emitter in the world. In 2021, the Indonesian government committed to a substantial reduction of GHG emissions requiring a low carbon transition and phasing-out of coal. Impacts from climate mitigation measures can affect specifically poor households through labor demand and price effects. This background note discusses the long-term distributional impacts of various climate change mitigation measures and derives broad policy recommendations to minimize adverse impacts.
