Ratings for the Third Water Supply and Sanitation for Low-Income Communities and Community Based Water Supply Project for Indonesia were as follows: outcome and Bank performance was highly satisfactory, and monitoring and evaluation (M and E) quality was high. Some lessons learned included: the community driven development (CDD) approach is formally acknowledged and streamlined into the government program. Community based water supply and sanitation (PAMSIMAS) provided a collaborative platform that enabled diverse stakeholders to organize their efforts to overcome water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenges. Robust method of community participation in the planning and implementation of the project, with a special role played by frontline service delivery actors. Clarity and transparency about the technical, financial, and managerial aspects of water supply and sanitation (WSS) services enhances their sustainability. The integration of project M and E into the government system ensures the continuation of its utilization post project.
