This paper presents an overview of the status quo, analyses key issues and showcases innovative solutions pertaining to the potential of digital technologies to advance inclusive and sustainable development. The analysis focuses on four thematic areas, namely (a) ensuring meaningful connectivity and advancing inclusive technology development; (b) strengthening the digital skills of marginalized groups and promoting their participation in STEM education and careers; (c) developing enabling ecosystems that support the inclusion of marginalized groups in the digital age; and (d) addressing online and technology-facilitated violence against marginalized groups and protecting their rights. The paper provides forward-looking recommendations for the consideration of policymakers in each thematic area. It concludes by stressing the significance of data collection and analysis and digital cooperation in realizing the vision of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the forthcoming Global Digital Compact.
