This paper analyses the civil war in Tajikistan and the process for peace from political coup in February 1990 to 1997 based on historical evidence. In order to understand Tajikistan civil war, it is essential to know the history and anthropology of the external powers such as Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan and the historical evidence that affected the war. Tajikistan suffered the most serious internal disorder among newly independent states from Russian Federation at the beginning of 1990s. As many newly colonialism independent states, Tajikistan failed to establish the national identity and economical sustainability and to assure national security as well as military power. In fact, the government faced the problem of transition to newly independent state system from Russian Federation system. Moreover, the civil war was the result of regionalism and racism between political parties to possess the power of the government. The gap between rich and poor that has been increasing due to regionalism, racism, and monopolistic economic system are considered as causes of the civil war. The agreement for peace keeping between anti-government powers and Dushanbe administration began in 1994. UN, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, United States, and some Central Asian countries contributed to the promotion of this agreement.
