A Research on the Change of the National Consciousness and the New National Assimilation in the Post-Soviet Uzbekistan: According to a Survey on the Uzbek and Russian Ethnic Groups Sung Dongki* Uzbekistan has multinational and multicultural circumstances and has carried out the strongest nationalism among states in Central Asia at the same time. After the Soviet collapse the policy of nationalism by Uzbek government is focused on “Anti-Sovietism and Anti-Russia.” For example, language policy by Uzbek language has acted on social problems to Russian-speaking minorities. In spite of this policy the Uzbek peoples have a good command of Russian and don't have conflicted with them by force of arms. Actually according to the present national situations are understood by this policy and statistics, Uzbekistan probably had a experiences with ethnic strife. By the way this problem is not limited to Uzbekistan but will affect states that are prepare to push into Uzbekistan. This research is based on this questions will reinterpret the policy of Uzbek nationalism and characteristics by focusing on the change of the national consciousness and the new national assimilation between the Uzbek and Russian peoples not by official policy of nationalism. This work will be applied to understand the present situations of policy and the result of this research will be efficient materials to forecast the future of Uzbekistan. Above all things to achieve this object the made survey materials were analyzed and applied to this work. This research contents are as follows. First, the ethnic distance measurement between the Uzbek and Russian peoples. Second, the analysis of ethnic and national identity of them. Third, the analysis and prospect of the national consciousness and the new national assimilation in Uzbekistan.
