This fact sheet provides concise information on public sector management in Mongolia and a summary of ADB-assisted programs, challenges, and plans for the country as of 2017.

Mongolia became a member of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1991. Virtually from the start of its membership, public sector management has been a key area of engagement. In fact, of the cumulative lending, grant, and technical assistance portfolio of $248.24 million as of 1992, public sector management is the third largest sector (12.29% of total approvals) in ADB’s partnership with Mongolia.

Over the period 1992–2017, ADB’s support for improved public sector management has evolved and covered a range of areas to respond to the changing needs and demands of the country. A review of the portfolio shows five distinct phases in the engagement.
